IN THE SPIRIT OF MAGAZINE 2.0…
Posted by Paul Ryan, Editor, Anthill Magazine
Sadly, I’m stuck chasing deadlines this week.
As such, I’ve not had the opportunity to scout the Internet and deliver to you, our expectant readers, my regular enewsletter post: Website of the Week.
However, in the spirit of Anthill’s ongoing Magazine 2.0 Experiment, I thought that perhaps you could help me out?
This is your chance to suggest an Australian website that you think is seriously unique and deserving of our recognition. The best suggestion will be featured as part of our regular New Media column in the Dec/Jan edition of Anthill Magazine.
So readers… What website do you think should be our ‘Website of the Week’?

Hey Ryan,
Sorry for blowing my own horn here but I think www.karmacurrency.com.au is worthy of website of the week. Why? Well, we are an innovative not for profit organisation that has launched Australia’s first Online Charity Gift Voucher. And how it works is simple.
You simply go online to buy a tax deductible Charity Gift Voucher for say…Christmas… email it off and then the recipient goes onto the website and decides which charities the donation will go towards. They can protect rainforests, educate minds, find cures, rescue animals, offset their carbon and so on…
With over 100 leading charities (Care, Plan, ACF, RSPCA, Royal Flying Doctors, World Vision, WSPA, UNICEF, Oxfam and more) and 1000’s of charitable gifts, there is something for everyone! In fact, after only 12 months online we now have the largest Charitable Gift Registry in the Southern Hemisphere.
So, I hoep you dig the idea and the execution of it and please let us know if you have any questions whatsoever. I’m based in melbourne and happy to meet up or talk over the phone.
Cheers,

Good Afternoon Paul,
These day’s with money being so tight it’s hard to make your dollar stretch that bit further, right?
Well for me and 7,580 Registered Members this have been made easier thanks to a wonderful site called BUCKSCOOP - http://www.buckscoop.com.au
This site which will turn 2 in October has dramatically changed the way I shop online and offline.
Buckscoop with the help of members hunt down the best deals, offers, vouchers and freebies which than are posted to the forum, if the deal is related to a cashback merchant listed on Buckscoop members can than earn cashback on there purchase.
At the moment http://www.oo.com.au is tracking all September purchases made via Buckscoop at a rate of 6.3% not to mention this is the 2nd cashback rise this month from them.
Last year I received over $200 back via cashback not to mentioned the hundreds of dollars I saved by shopping online at some of my favourite sites like http://www.buckscoop.com.au/oo-com-au - http://www.buckscoop.com.au/deals-direct - http://www.buckscoop.com.au/3-mobile
Buckscoop is Free to join, cashback payments are made to your Paypal account or bank each month. (Payments must be cleared first from the merchants before cashbacks are paid out)
If you ever have a problem I have found them to response within 24 hrs, most times an answer is given within the hour, this is what I call fantastic service.
Paul I would love for you to have a browse around Buckscoop than you can see just how well this forum is maintained.
One very Happy Buckscooper!
Regards
Jenny

Hi Ryan,
With Christmas just around the corner I thought that a fresh, new personalised gifts website such as DigiGifts (www.DigiGifts.com.au) may be ideal for highlight in an upcoming edition of your magazine. DigiGifts is a personalised giftware company who supply one of the largest ranges of personalise giftware in Australia.
DigiGifts doesn’t just supply a handful of personalised products like many of the other larger chains do; instead they sell a huge range of products ranging from professional photo albums, photo puzzles, photo bags, crystal statues, keyrings, soft toys, calendars, personalised cartoon dvds, canvases, apparel and more. Each item is customer designed by one of DigiGifts staff members and then shown to the customer for approval before printing.
Some of the things that make DigiGifts stand out from many of the other personalise and photo gift range companies is that they are 100% Australian owner and run, no minimum order amount required (order as little or as many products as you like), they help support other small business, they are dedicated to helping their customers get the right gift because they are completely dedicated to personalised gifts.
DigiGifts customer loyalty alone highlights how successful this company is and how it will continue to grow into the future.

My favourites are Mess and Noise, the Australian music website which has good editorial content but more importantly a liveley (very free) discussion board.
http://messandnoise.com/
Defamer, the Australian celebrity blog - it’s written very well, and isn’t quite as nailbitingly trite as the Perez Hilton international alternatives.
http://defamer.com.au
Mintd is another must see, filled with indie creative works you can buy.

And is you’re looking for what’s on in galleries, the Artabase.

Or for a job in the hospitality industry, I Eat I Drink I Work.

Paul
We have just launched a great new online business that redefines the way in which consumers buy wine.
The fundamental premise for the business is that instead of consumers being price takers, that is accepting prices that are offered by a seller, they become price makers by placing bids for the wine that they would like to buy, at the price they would like to pay. Then, it is up to the network of independent Australian wine retailers, who are partners of snup, to determine whether or not the offered price is acceptable.
The great benefit of this model, for both consumers and suppliers, is the ability to facilitate pure dynamic pricing. That is, depending on the current situation, a bid may be accepted for a particular purchase at $20 today whereas tomorrow this could be rejected. Clearly, from the persepctive of pricing, this is the holy grail…
Further, as we are partnering solely with reputable independent Australian wine retailers, the business model is also supporting, and providing competitive differentiation for, small businesses across Australia.
We would welcome your feedback on the concept and hope you get a chance to visit snup.com.au.
Thanks and regards
Duncan

[…] So far in this Magazine 2.0 Experiment, you have helped us scope out the cover design, named who you want to interview, suggested topics, largely populated our Housekeeping and Opinion columns and nominated a company or two for Paul Ryan’s New Media section. […]
